Golden Link Members Showcase Concert!
About this event
Members Showcase Concert
Whenever there is a 5th Tuesday in a month, Golden Link hosts a Members Showcase Concert instead of the usual sing around. It will be held at our new concert venue at the Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road.
Rather than in the main sanctuary, this concert will be held in the Parlor, which is the room at the rear of the church. There is ample parking at the rear.
$5 Donation suggested at the door, concert starts at 7:30pm.
Featured Member Performers:
Jack Petersen
Before moving to the Rochester area from Michigan, his home state, Jack played in two bands, the last being an Americana trio. He lives with his wife in Penfield.
Kathy and Patrick Schwar
Kathy and Patrick first met in a coffee house while at Northern Illinois University and soon began trading folk music books and scribbled notes.
They rediscovered their guitars several years ago and then discovered—with Golden Link inspiration—that singing together could be fun.
And well, here they are today, sharing folk music over iPads and coffee. They enjoy creating sets that encourage audience participation. They enjoy playing with others as well and in general, hope they contribute something to keeping folk music alive and well.
They will bring songs from favorite folk singers, those from “traditional” eras on through the ‘60s and into the 2000s. Their music is supported by their two guitars/ maybe a mandolin / or, who knows, maybe a banjo or autoharp.
Interlude - with Doug Green and Linda Becker
Linda Becker and Doug Green were both long-time Golden Link members when Dan Kuchta invited Doug to join his Dusty Road band as bass player and vocalist in 2017. Linda has enjoyed playing with Dan and Maureen for 25 years now.
As time passed, Linda and Doug began to become aware of their common interest in playing and singing music with a focus on a multitude of human relationships, and how folk music was the perfect medium for expressing those emotions on a variety of personal levels.
So in 2024, with coaxing from musical friends, INTERLUDE emerged as yet another musical experience vying for our attention. It has proven to be both challenging and rewarding as we explored working as a duo with bass and guitar supporting our vocal efforts.
